February 20, 2012

"Remember Faith is the Power, Obedience is the price, Love is the motive, the Spirit is the Key and Christ is the Reason." This is something we say after we recite our purpose. Its something our mission does.
I'm excited that the wedding plans are going well. I'm sure it is FUN! 'Come what may and love it!' mother. You'll only have two more weddings after this. :)
That's sad about James. Poor guy, but at the same time that's awesome that he walked to church. He's such a stud. You can tell him that.

Last week I felt like we were playing catch up because we were out of town due to exchanges, and then president interviews. I love president interviews, they are the greatest. He is such an inspired man and knows what to say to motivate you and cheer you up. We had an odd experience last Friday. We were volunteering at Salvation Army when a worker called us over and wanted to talk to us. I guess sister Luker reminded him of his baby sister, plus he saw our name tags and wanted to see what we were all about. We talked (he talked) for quite a while. He was talking about the Lord and how we must always put our trust in him and give him the glory. I was nodding my head in agreement and saying ya that's right...up until he started talking about how the lord uses him to heal people. That was kind of weird, but nothing new. We've met many people that say they have the power to lay their hands on people's heads/body and they will be healed....And then at the end of our discussion he had sister Luker and I clasp hands and then he placed his hand on ours and gave us a blessing. It took us both off guard. This was right in the middle of the store, so people are walking around us. Nice guy, harmless, just a little different. We received transfer calls Saturday night. I was ancy all weekend because our Zl's kept asking me what I wanted to do next transfer-how I felt about white washing, training etc. We got the call, and I am moving to St. Charles Missouri. So I'll be about 20-30 minutes from the mission home/mission office down town St. Louis, which will be awesome! I'm so excited. I'll be finishing up Sister Northcutt’s training, so that will be good. The only daunting task will be packing. I've accumulated so much stuff.

Yesterday Brother Birk, 2nd counselor in the Bishopric asked me to share my testimony. And that was really sweet. I think the biggest thing is that Cleo was at church yesterday and me leaving took her totally by surprise. I talked with her after the 1st hour and tried to comfort her. Thankfully she understands my purpose as a missionary and knows that I can't be around forever. We continued talking and she shared that she was so sad that I wouldn't be there for when she gets baptized. She doesn't have an actual date. She was going to be baptized on Saturday but she didn't feel ready. There were some things she wasn't willing to give up. But as we were talking she decided that she does want to be baptized Tuesday night before I leave. This would be such a miracle. We are going over to see her today and then the elders will follow to give her her baptismal interview. I just really hope that she's ready and that she won't talk her self out of it. She's been taught all the lessons.

That's funny about Brother Conger. I was in St. Louis Tuesday, we went to the Temple and did some vehicle safety stuff at the office. When you send a package with Bro. Conger they can't forward it because of no postage, so it'll sit there until the Zl's go down for meetings or the next transfer. It wasn't there when I was there but I told them I had a package coming and would be delivered by a brother conger. He delivered it on Wednesday and it happened to work out that we had president interviews on Thursday so I texted the AP's and asked if they'd bring it then. So I got the package on Thursday, Much faster then sending it. And it is delicious. It made my mission. I don't allow myself to get homesick but when I opened that package I didn't care about the tears of joy and love. Thank you so much!

I can't believe how much time has flown by. I am so excited for everything and everyone in our family....
This last week was a blur. We had exchanges on Tuesday/Wednesday of this last week in Centralia which were so much fun and a great learning opportunity. I have learned so much from the sisters I've been privileged to serve around, they are amazing! On Wednesday when I was on exchanges with sister Lowe in Centralia, (who just came out and who is an old FHE sister from BYUI, ha weird!) we were out tracting and we knocked on the door of an ex-Pentecostal preacher now born again Baptist. He was a hoot to talk to. He told us we don't believe in the right Jesus Christ and to go read our bible and pray for understanding because if we don't change we're going to hell. But he was really nice about it. So it was funny, but we were there on his door step for probably 25 minutes talking, mostly listening because he wouldn't let us say anything. Finally when he took a breath I said it was good to meet him, shook his hand and I told him I look forward to meeting him again. Thursday was our president interviews which are always amazing and insightful. I'm a little anxious about this next transfer though, I've been here so long so I wonder what the lord has for me next.

Love you all! Happy Valentines day!

Hahaha so mom, have you got a paper chain count going for me? :) Thank you so much for your wisdom and your letters each week. There are days when your letters are the motivating factor. The mission is hard, harder than I have ever expected.

That's exciting about the package. I will be going down to Centralia tonight and we'll be stopping by the mission office tomorrow morning so maybe it will be there.
On Monday for Pday we had our Zone pday. It was crazy. We played capture the flag, but we used nerf guns and PVC pipes. It was awesome. The Elders really got into it pulling out tables and chairs. When they were finished it looked like a battle ground.

This last week we had exchanges in Jacksonville. They live in this old school, which is crazy. So for my morning run I just ran the hallway. They live in a really cool city. I guess they have a college there for the blind and deaf and as part of their calling they are required to participate in ASL classes. They do a lot of signing there which is so cool. Sister Pederson taught me a few things, sadly I have forgotten them. I hope to serve there; the people there are so friendly.

We are working with two investigators who have baptismal dates. Sometimes I wish they'd just trust us and get baptized. They know it’s true. They have both felt the spirit in their lives. Agency can be so irritating at times. :)

Sunday was a tender mercy. I had been feeling kind blue because of some things that had happened that morning. But Cleo came to church Sunday and brought her Granddaughter. And then a LA whom we've been working a lot with came to church for the first time since Christmas. God is very much aware of us. And when a door closes he does open that window.
I love you all and am thankful for who you are and the example you set to those around you.
